What is DEXPIRY?
DEXPIRY is a decentralized a system that, using distributed ledger technology (DLT), digitally records and reliably monitors the status of legal and commercial warranties for products with an emphasis on the security and privacy of its users.
DEXPIRY system optimizes the user experience when verifying, monitoring, and exercising warranty rights by storing information about the purchase of an individual product on a publicly available Blockchain in the form of DEXPIRY warranty tokens.
DEXPIRY warranty tokens are a digital certificate of warranty, related to a specific product or service. Technically speaking, DEXPIRY tokens are ERC-721 non-fungible tokens (NFT) that are associated with a product during a purchase and are assigned a unique identification number (Token ID) as a record on the Blockchain. In addition to the Token ID number, DEXPIRY tokens contain a record of the seller's digital signature, the time of purchase, and the duration of the legal, or commercial, warranty for a particular product.
Other relevant information about products for which a warranty has been issued is available in the DEXPIRY system database. Access to this information is only possible using the DEXPIRY application and depends on the user's authorization level.
DEXPIRY application is the user interface of the DEXPIRY system that allows users (depending on the authorization level) to easily issue and confirm warranties, monitor the status of warranties, and transfer warranty rights for an individual product via DEXPIRY warranty tokens.
Depending on the authorization level, the user within the application can access detailed information (on the Blockchain and in the DEXPIRY database) related to a particular DEXPIRY token via a unique Token ID number.
Warranty rights on a particular product are proven by a quick cryptographic check of the DEXPIRY token within the application and are also easy to transfer between users.
Why DEXPIRY?
Even though we have already stepped deep into the digital age, most of us still have at least one drawer in our homes filled with receipts and warranty certificates. We keep all these papers, sometimes for years, out of fear that one day we will need some of them to exercise our consumer right to replace or repair a product that has failed us within the warranty period. When that day comes, sometimes it happens that for some reason we cannot find the exact receipt and/or warranty card that we need. Sometimes, if we do find it, we are unpleasantly surprised to discover that its warranty has recently expired or the paper receipt has faded.

Check all your active warranties at any time in just a few clicks and access details about each product. Be notified about a warranty that is about to expire, transfer your warranty to another user or find out information about the store that issued it.
If you are a retailer or service provider, you can easily connect the DEXPIRY system to your local database to issue digital warranties for the items you offer. DEXPIRY warranty tokens are then automatically linked to your invoicing system and thus represent digital proof of purchase of a particular product that entitles the buyer to use the commercial, or legal, warranty.
